Greetings, my name is JoAnn Adams, and I am the original director of Hope Grows Child Development Center located at 9845 Lost Knife Road, Gaithersburg Md.

My journey began when I had children of my own and wanted to give them a head start along the road of learning. As a young mother, I knew that education began at an early age and at home, so I started my own home daycare. Having so many young children in my care opened my eyes to see that educating as well as caring for them would give them the best start in life. This experience inspired me to continue my education to become a teacher. My passion for early childhood education grew in me a love for life learning and I wanted to instill that passion in every child I encountered. I believe every child can learn and as an educator, it is our responsibility to nourish, encourage and teach them to become all they can be.

I started my career in early childhood by becoming a classroom teacher in the preschool room and then the pre-k classroom. I was a pre-k teacher for several years, then transitioned to becoming an assistant director. While in this position, I had a great director who taught me all she knew. Her coaching and mentoring encouraged me to apply for a position as a director. Accepting the position, I was able to put the skills I learned into coaching and guiding staff members. Working with families and their children helped me to create a partnership that works. My commitment to education and partnership with families and their children is a driving force that ignites the heart and soul of this educator.

I have been the director at Hope Grows since its inception. Hope Grows gave me an opportunity to stretch those skills and put them into practice. We are NAEYC accredited and a Level 5 center in Maryland Excels. We achieved this through the hard work and dedication of the staff. Feel free to stop by and take a tour of Hope Grows. You may find me in the office but most of the time I am in a classroom with the children, the real heart and soul of the center.
