The History
Greetings,
My name is Salema Horn, and I am the Owner of Hope Grows Child Development Center, LLC. I currently have three Licensed Child Care Centers in Montgomery County, Maryland in Gaithersburg, and Germantown.
I have been in the Early Childhood Education field for over 26 years. Prior to transitioning to Early Childhood, I worked in Corporate Payroll. In 1996, I resigned from my job with Corporate Payroll to start my journey in Child Care operation. First, due to my passion in helping young children and families, I opened my first family daycare, in my home and became a Home Daycare Provider. Over the years, my Home Family Daycare grew beyond the capacity of my home. After meeting my potential business partner, I opened my first Licensed Child Care Center, MSL, with my business partner in August 1999. Over the years from 1999 to 2013, MSL grew from one location to five established locations.
In August 2013, I branched off to open a solo Child Care Center in Gaithersburg, Maryland, where Hope Grows Child Development Center, LLC was founded. After developing and maintaining Hope Grows Child Development Center I in Gaithersburg; in November 2017, Hope Grows Child Development Center II successfully opened in Germantown. Both locations are accredited by Maryland State Department of Education through Office of Child Care and are Nationally Accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Additionally, Hope Grows Child Development Centers have met the Maryland Excels high-quality standards for Child Care with a Level 4 rating at Hope Grows Child Development Center II and Level 5 rating at Hope Grows Child Development Center I. Currently, Hope Grows Child Development Center, LLC is in the process of opening a third location.
During my tenure in Early Childhood from 1996 to present, I have been in Director positions in both my home daycare and licensed Child Care centers, MSL and Hope Grows Child Development Center I and II. Hope Grows Child Development Centers provides care for Infants to Pre-kindergarten and School Age children. Throughout the years I have learned that Child Care needs to go beyond learning. Before a child can learn, they must feel comfortable, safe and be in a healthy learning environment. I personally believe education is the way to success. Because of my belief, I take pride in establishing rapport and positive relationships with my staff, the children, and families we serve by providing a program that nurtures child development, encourages respect for others and fosters students’ ability to observe, question, evaluate and make decisions. A comfortable, safe, and healthy environment aids in fostering children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. I am grateful for the opportunity to make a lasting impact on each child, family and teacher that enters Hope Grows Child Development Centers’ front door.
